Hi All,

Just to clarify :smile:

The 'shut-off' valve is placed in both the exhaust line and the RO 'supply line'.

This valve works by;
If RO supply line is 'open' then there is no back-pressure in this line, as soon as the float valve (or tap / faucett / solenoid valve) closes (tank full?) back-pressure is created in this 'RO supply line'.

This back-pressure operates a device in the shut-off valve, to block/stop water escaping to waste (exhaust line).

If you do not use a shut-off valve in conjunction with your float valve (tap / faucett / solenoid valve) water will be constantly running to waste, via the exhaust line, even though NO product water is being produced/used.

HTH, Cheers, Mick B

Hi Mick :welcome:

Thanks for your reply :thumbsup:
My RO-unit came with a installed shut-off valve and I also bought a float valve.
So I guess I have everything I need for a complete mechanical automatic set-up!!

One thing with float valves though :(
i used to use them in my reef tank as a minimum maximum gizmo to compete with vapourised water topping the tank off and keep params at a constant level. Sad thing is de salt messed up the lot and blocked the switches . Now is a reef tank some what more extrem conserning salts but stil . Don't under estimate de "freshwater salts "

Hi Rob :welcome:

But there is no freshwater salts in the product water, and since I use a separate RO-storage tank I guess that`s no problem, or am I wrong??

Hi Guys :welcome:

Morten you can try put the float valve on the inlet hose(pipe) of the RO unit. This will act like like a tap and don't have to care about RO unit. :bwian:
