How many pounds on a 80g glass tank?

Postby Kiet Thanh » Mon Oct 31, 2005 5:14 am

I just get a used 80g glass tank, size 48L x 24H x 18W. It doesn't come with stant. I need to know what's the weight when it filled with water in. I'm planning to pull gavel in.

Hi Kiet, full tank capacity will be around 324 litres. That makes it 324kg, not considering the weight of the glass. That size of tank i would assume the glass will weigh around 50kg. Total weight would be around 380kg.

Yep, you'd better buy a good solid stand

Hi Kiet :welcome:

If you make your own stand or "reinforce" a piece of furniture... make the base / legs less like chair legs and more like retangle of 2 X 4 / 2 X 3 inch thick pieces of wood.... this spreads out those 800 + pounds so that the flooring material will NOT slowly "sink" since the weight / pressure is NOT put in 4 or 6 separate 2 inch square areas on the floor
